Digital Storytelling

With all of the new technological advances, stories are told in so many different formats. It used to be that stories were just words on paper but now we can experience stories through movies, music recordings, interactive websites and so on. With all of these new technologies available, it’s important for libraries to adapt their programming with that in mind. That includes storytime and all over the world so many libraries are taking their storytelling to new levels. “The key to implementing digital storytelling is taking advantage of its interactivity-that is, the fact that those listening to the story are able to listen and create instead of simply being passive recipients” (pg. 13). Many libraries are combining storytelling with things like video games and youtube videos. Using websites and technology that are popular with young people and kids is a great way to engage them in library programming.
